Minnesota Parental Information and Resource Center (MN PIRC)
If your child's public school receives federal Title I funds, it must let you know how well the students in the school are learning. The school district must contact you if your child's school did not meet its goals for student achievement.
This means the school is placed on a "needs improvement" list. The school principal, teachers, and parents will be working on a School Improvement Plan to meet achievement goals. Parents will have opportunities to be involved, and you may have the choice to send your child to another school or to receive free tutoring.
See "Adequate Yearly Progress" and "Supplemental Educational Services (SES)" for additional information.
